Iron Table and Warped Shelf

I'm inspired by simple curves and bold color in my furniture design and have attempted to use both in these two pieces. For my coffee table, I started with an iron shaped top (which creates a form that will demand attention in a typically rectangular living room) and designed a base that would flair outwards as it went up. Its base is made of poplar and painted with milk paint, and the top is maple. The piece is finished with polycrylic.

For the shelf, I wanted to use curved pieces that would cause the triangular top to flow into an inversely shaped bottom to crate a very organic shape with simple construction. This piece is also built from painted poplar and maple, but I decided to finish the shelf with polyurethane.
