Client Brief : The brief asked for a logo design for a cafe, The Staiths Cafe (or The Staithes Cafe), located in Gateshead, United Kingdom.

Challenge : The challenge was to create a historic as well as contemporary logo which reflects the ancient monument, Dunston Staithes which stands in front of the cafe with a very historic view.

Insight : Dunston Staithes monument is all about stuctures, patterns, bolts with a wood and metal foundation. The monument was used to transport coal through shipment from 17th to 20th century. Therefore, to bring the essence of the monument the form of the material (wood, metal) has inspired the logo.
 

Solution :  Using the colour of the sea, wood and using the lines and structure of the monument, it's essence has been incorporated in the logo. Also it has been given an elegant and pleasant look with a lenient and relaxing font considering that the logo is for a cafe.
