Working Classes...

Six personal portraits of a working woman at the end of a day [at some point there will hopefully be just one]. The photographs where taken in our home after my girlfriend came off shift, and are an exploration of the stress that traditional blue collar work has on women who choose it as their career. She is fantastic at what she does, yet there is a constant tension in her workplace because of her gender. Unfortunatly documenting her during the performance of her job is currently out of the question, but I am looking for other women who do unconventional work in industries dominated by men. The job does not have to be manual, and the portraits don't have to be taken in a personal environment, they just have to reflect something about what working in that position means or does to the individual. If your interested please contact me at barry@newstreetphotography or on 0777 079 1061 to discus the project.
