PERFORMANCE THEATRE

anticipation
compression
circulation
confusion

A theater derived from a generative script. The area of the theater and its programs within are informed by intial observations of opposing forces such as unwanted weed germination on site and the large retaining wall. The search of spaces are also informed by the overal compression of the three buildings in plan view. An indirect and circulartory movement is generated. Users are involved in an unaware performance in which they experience a series of juxstaposing spatial qualities before entering the performance viewing zone. Such as a narrowing corridor followed by a dramatic large lobbying area, an upward ramping open space going through a 3ft wide slit on a wall, entering a fully enclosed performance area.
