ArchiBazingaChinoise_An Archibet book

This is an archi-bet book for the upcoming birth of my child GUZI as a gift. It’s probably also the first illustrative book exclusively on Chinese architects and their pieces of work. Selected projects follow the following principles: (1) all but realized projects constructed locally by Chinese architects or practices independently (Taiwan included); (2) their names (the first letter of priority) cover 26 letters. In the book, not only Pritzker laureates I.M.PEI and WANG SHU’s masterpieces are presented, but also the new generation of architects whose work are very experimental are vastly introduced ; (3) the diversity of building types are well discussed. Various building types are involved in this book: business, culture, education, government, entertainment, housing, tourism, transportation, landscape – spanning from industrial, commercial to agricultural - and an especially important type for contemporary China, renovation; (4) construction sites from cities to rural areas are widely considered; (5) modernized architectural languages showing an evolution from the Chinese traditional architectural aesthetics or ecological concerns are highly preferred; (6) local materials and construction methods using wood, brick, bamboo and stone are nicely presented. In a word, this is an interesting and informative architectural illustrative book for kids and ages beyond.
