Alternative Materials is a study investigating materials that are seldom used in building. The three materials investigated are reinforced carbon fiber, biocomposites, and paper tubes. The process of investigation includes history, structural analysis, and fabrication. There is room for building materials that go beyond the typical lumber, reinforced concrete, and masonry structures. In Alternative Materials, I am beginning to expose materials that are rarely used or considered in the creation of architecture. 
 
 
The following is my reaction to the materials studied. Each piece is intended to be mounted on a wall and speak to its potential as an architectural material.
