The project was to create a surrealistic room using at least 4 separate images composited together.

I created this surrealistic image using Adobe Photoshop. I have a history of loving the water. Of course, my favorite movie was The Little Mermaid. As a child, I grew up telling people that I wanted to be a Marine Biologist and all I ever wanted to do was be surrounded by H2O. My imagination would run wild and I'd sometimes imagine what it would be like to fill up my bedroom with water. This is where I got my inspiration for the piece.

I started with a picture of an empty room. I then used layer adjustments to play with the color and contrast of the room. I added light reflections to give the appearance of water and used a filter for the wavy appearance of straight lines. Then I used a brush that mimicked light rays and created a beam of streaming light coming through the windows. Next, I composited an image of a female as the focal point of the piece. I carefully placed bubbles in the image using blending modes and warped her body to fit the scene. I also place a shadow underneath of her. Finally, to add a bit of drama, I created a vignette around the image and used another layer to add a subtle complimentary color scheme of blue and orange.
