The Legend of Seven Cities

The Blue Lagoon and Green Lagoon of Seven Cities Vale

The Valley of the Seven Cities is one of the most beautiful and picturesque places of the island of São Miguel, Azores. Is also one of the regions most Azorean legends.
This is one of them:

A very simple legend, but full of poetry, speaks to us of the ancient kingdom of the Seven cities whose kings had a very beautiful daughter. This princess loved country life, because he was very reason the fields, covering hills and valleys, villages and customs. One day she met a young pastor. Spoke at length with him, and that conversation was born love. They, therefore, meet every day, swearing love and mutual affection. But the Princess had the marked destination because a prince, heir to another realm, intended her hand. There were therefore to suspend the reverie with the pastor. So she was forbidden to meet the young pastor, only a farewell was consented with him. But when they meet for the last time, both wept and on their feet were formed two lagoons: - a blue, made of tears shed the blue eyes of the beautiful little princess; other, green, due to fallen tears of green young shepherd eyes. The couple parted forever, but the lagoons made of tears of both these never parted.
