Riot Art Contest - VFX

This is essentially a project I took up with for me was a two-week deadline. A little forced challenge, if you will. The company Riot Games was hosting a contest on making particle effects, and though it was originally established some time ago, school was taking priority, so it left me with two weeks to make these two ability effects using only Diffuses and Alphas in Unreal Engine 4 with Maya meshes and a lot of Photoshop work.
 
Overall I'd like to toy with the second effect more. I had some random inspiration after submitting these videos on it, and I'd like to further fix it up. The first however could use some tweaking, but I'm so happy with how it's turned out so far.
