The Student Movement in Chile
The Chilean-winter, but now the spring is coming

Since May, thousands and thousands of students from Chile have come to protest for their rights: a quality free education for all Chileans.

It have not been easy, since the movement is already more than 4 months, which have been portrayed in these pictures and videos. Moments of joy, adrenaline, and friendship in the marches, as well as sad times as was the murder of Manuel Gutierrez, 14 years old student killed by the police, or the tremendous repression suffered on August 4.

Desde Mayo, miles y miles de estudiantes chilenos han salido a protestar por sus derechos: una educación de calidad gratuita para todos los chilenos.
No ha sido fácil, ya que el movimiento lleva más de 4 meses, que han sido retratados en estas fotografías y videos. Momentos de alegría, adrenalina y compañerismo en las marchas, también momentos tristes como el asesinato de Manuel Gutiérrez, un estudiante de 14 años asesinado por Carabineros, o la tremenda represión sufrida el 4 de Agosto.

Camila Vallejo, president of the FECH (Federation of Students of the University of Chile).Also one of the spokeswoman of the CONFECH, which groups the student associations of universities that are part of the Council of Rectors, the institution that brings together the chilean universities that were born before 1981.

Degree student in the career of Geography, is one of the visible faces of this movement.

Camila Vallejo, presidenta de la FECH (Federación de Estudiantes de la Universidad de Chile). También una de los voceros de la CONFECH, que agrupa a las asociaciones estudiantiles de las universidades que son parte del Consejo de Rectores, institución que agrupa a las universidades chilenas que nacieron antes de 1981.
Estudiante en titulación de la carrera de Geografía, es una de las caras visibles de este movimiento.

After the terrible repression of August 4, the Interior Minister Rodrigo Hinzpeter prohibited from covering our faces with scarves, hoods, scarves.

So this child for the government is nothing but a criminal.

Después de la terrible represión del 4 de Agosto, el Ministro del Interior Rodrigo Hinzpeter prohibió el cubrirse los rostros con pañuelos, capuchas, bufandas.

Por lo que este niño para el gobierno no es más que un criminal.

The Central House of the University of Chile turned into a pilgrimage center for walking onthe mourning of the death of Manuel Gutierrez.

I am part of the FAU: Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of Chile. We have not been anything outside the movement, being part of this from the beginning, and that's how I integrated the "Collective FAUNA", an audiovisual group with other friends from the Design career, joining us after the Film Career from the UCH.

Thus, as coordinator, cameraman, editor and animator of postproduction, we created a way to make videoactivism, like the following videos that are created almost entirely by myself.

Soy parte de la FAU: Facultad de Arquitectura y Urbanismo de la Universidad de Chile. No hemos estado para nada fuera del movimiento, siendo parte desde el comienzo, y así es como integré el "Colectivo FAUNA", grupo audiovisual junto con otros amigos de la carrera de Diseño, uniéndosenos después la Carrera de Cine de la UCH.

Así, como coordinador, camarógrafo, editor y animador de postproducción, creamos una forma de hacer videoactivismo, como los siguientes videos que fueron creados por mí en su totalidad.
