The video Traces of Stavanger offers an artistic data visualisation of the urban evolution of Stavanger, Norway’s fourth biggest city.
Urban maps and statistical data where analysed in order to trace back the development of Stavanger through history and time. The city’s urban spread and population growth are animated with the use of experimental visualization techniques. In this project media art and information design are joined together in order to reflect on urban space and its evolution.
The video was submitted to 2013 ScreenCity Festival / Moving Image Festival Stavanger, Norway.
The project was featured on the website Digital Agenda for Europe.
