Mission Statement: Being the driving source of inspiration, the stone sculptures of Andy Goldsworthy dictated the construction methods, and visual aesthetics of Earth meet Romance. The linear qualities, attention to proportion, and the evolution of organic forms are elements that shaped the visual characteristics of the garments. Design details of seaming reflects the linear qualities of his sculptures. Textures and colors within the selected fabrications further aims to visually abstract his work, thus deriving design elements. Goldsworthy’s passion, which he applies to his work with nature, inspired the creation of Earth meets Romance. The love for creativity expressed through manipulating Earth’s natural elements to achieve design that depicts the interaction between passion for design, and the beauty of the earth itself. This unique interaction Goldsworthy shares with nature overall inspired the emotion and visual aesthetic of my collection. Earth meets Romance is ideally for a diligent, resourceful woman, that is attentive to the emotions of others and her own.
