Installation, video documentary of performance

Description
By creating a personal territory in a public space, I try to explore the conditional elements of individual autonomy and experience how one is constraint by oneself as well as by the collective power. The bunker I built provides a temporary shelter for me that I used to believe in the possibility of going beyond social apparatus. Realizing that one can never truly get rid of one’s social attribute, either in an ideological form or a biologically predetermined state, I took this bunker as my performance stage to reveal my individual resistance posture, and created an installation that shows my previous existence within this constrained space. Eventually, shown with the video documentary of my performance inside, the bunker as an abandoned place becomes my narrative metaphor of the extinction of individuality and a personal memorial for the illusion of freedom.
