This is just a masters' defence print run. The final book is rescheduled to late 2015 – please read full description a the bottom. And yes, you can still join the project!
Typeseeing is a project collecting information on the cultural differences in typography from all parts of the world. Its aim is to publish a book – a typographic guidebook - that would feel more like an anthology of reflections than an encyclopedic collection of fixed entries.

The project is conducted via a questionnaire consisting of three open questions:
What is your connection to typography?
What is typography to you?
How was your region's typography influenced by local history and culture?

In February 2014 Typeseeing began its course by publishing a promotional spot ). The promo was well-received by the organizers of the MOTYF festival and screened in the Muranów cinema during a student typographic films festival. The publication presented during my masters' defense was a summary of the internet activities related to the project and contains answers from 95 typographers and designers from 54 different countries.

The projects' name, Typeseeing, aside from the superficial wordplay and a suggestion of its "guidebook" nature, has a second, literal meaning - to see a letter/glyph. The entries are visualized by five 3D shapes that illustrate fragments of the chosen answers. The models allude to different styles and trends in typography and can be seen with the use of augmented reality technology, through a simple application created for the project. In result, it is possible to literally see type.

The project is still in motion. So far it has gathered over 120 answers from 64 countries.
The innitial deadline date is settled for end of march 2015. You can still join and send your answers at typeseeing@gmail.com
