HORNS of FREEDOM

Horns project power and valor, something that many of the women of our generation lack. Yes it is true we were created from a mans rib but unlike them, not out of clay. What if these horns were to signify something greater? Something deeper?

A journey started with a simple fantasy about horns intrigued me to dig deeper into their spiritual significance and how they relate to us. Horns are commonly associated within the animal world. They’re scientifically known to signify strength, power and defense. However, they have a deeper spiritual meaning. Horns are often associated with Gods and Goddesses too, which further implicates their mythological significance.
Why have our societies diminished the value of female counterparts so low, that women often wish they were men? We are expected to act, talk, walk behave in certain ways. We’re directed towards learning things against our interests. What makes us take it? Forces like industrialization and modernization hasn’t helped much to this aspect.

We have fantasies, hopes, dreams and ambitions that often contradict with society’s perspective, or often lack assertiveness to be accomplished. We give birth, we are the creators of life, we can come into the fiercest form of animals on earth when it comes to protecting our loved ones, We are the abundant givers! then why do we let power be taken and watch silently? When we share characteristics with most of the strongest animals and the Gods themselves, why be an observer? Why not be the goddess in her true form? No one can take nor give you the Power or Freedom, realize that the power was born with your first cry.

Grow your horns from within. Be the person you were created you to be! Push for your rights, Fight for your freedom, denounce your oppressors, and show them what you are worth!

RESEARCH & JOURNEY
The journey started with researching and sketching different headgears and understanding its functions.
the sketches according to story lines were converted into mini models
The plan was to create live size props, headgears and dresses in real environment  for which i made a mini model .
For trying to make live sized headgears, Following are the differns horns I tried to make
a basic trial on a friend
While making the horns , I came accross a technique of pressing out clay through wire mesh or net.
Due to bad weather , the project was held still , and the implementation of live sized models did not happen. but I still wish to convert the mini models and the final illustrations into live sized projects soon.
The experimenting
The final illustration converted into an artwork with the same technique
The write up post card
