Photography of Water Brigades to Ghana

Global Brigades works with university students to create sustainable development in nations lacking access to resources. Penn State students traveled to Ghana in January 2014 as a Water and Public Health brigade to build rainwater harvesters and latrines for the village of Aboano. Community members help build and buy into these systems, so they know how to maintain them and also feel a sense of ownership. An education component for children is included to help create awareness of how clean water is important to our health. The learning process on both the university student and community member sides is invaluable, and the relationships created were unforgettable.
