To gather the photos I went to Ohio college campuses, Kent State University, Case Western Reserve University, & Cleveland State University; Cleveland Health Events; and Bonnaroo 2012.
There were many great conversations around health in general, problems, and solutions to food in U.S. schools today. There was a high level of interest and support.
Next steps would be to create a power team to go out to the schools for fun educational workshops.
The area of concern was: What really defines "Healthy"?
We, as a group, did not want to teach anything specific.
Rather, we discussed access to fresh fruits & vegetables; and learning how to integrate them into meals everyday.
As an artist, I think it is a powerful message to show a variety of people's faces with the food they eat. My main goal was to make a statement that says: all different people eat healthy; and motivate young adults to identify with at least one portrait to help motivate them to follow in their footsteps towards health.
We all need suppoort in our health journeys; this is just one way that I, as an artist, continuously help to motivate individuals to overcome their health barriers, finding real, concrete strategies to overcome those barriers, and lead healthy lifestyles.
