    For the past couple of years we've been building and developing our brand and identity. It turned out to be very challenging, but also fun. The brief we initially set for ourselves was the story behind Hanno. The company is named after Hanno the Navigator, the King of Carthage, a famed explorer who commanded a fleet of ships along the unknown African coast. Over the past couple of years we've been building and evolving our brand and identity. There are few projects as challenging as designing for yourself, but we’ve had a lot of fun with this one.
 
The brief we initially set for ourselves was a very open one, based around the etymology of the Hanno brand name. The company is named after Hanno the Navigator, who was the King of Carthage and a famed explorer who commanded a fleet of ships along the unknown and unexplored African coast. As legend has it, he was the first man to discover gorillas.

At first glance the logo appears to be a king’s crown, but it is also intended to be seen as a boat, to symbolise the explorer and adventurer within us. Through the interconnected dots, we symbolised the star constellations that ships would navigate by. And finally, there’s additional significance in that this series of dots and lines represents our 5 shipmates as a distributed team which is nevertheless still very strongly connected.
