BACK TO THE FUTURE
MARTY MCFLY LOW-POLY ILLUSTRATION
After researching different illustration styles I came across a low-poly illustration of the Big Bang Theory and was amazed. I decided that this style and technique was a style I wanted to try and have ago at.
Reference image to work from.
White mapping.
Using the reference image I mapped out the layout using white lines to make up the image using triangles.
This is very time consuming and getting extremly complicated. I found myself wondering if I was even doing this correct, had a horrble feeling it just wasn't going to work.
Blocking in the colour.
When I was 'happy' with the layout, I then started to block in the color and slowly building it up. To pick the colour I either using the eye drop in illustrator for picked a color myself.
After mind numbing pen drawing shapes It begins to take shape.
It's a sloooooowwww process!!!!..........
This is the final result. But I wasnt quite finished or happy. I wanted to add one last effect to the illustration.
Finally I took the illustration into photoshop to add a slight vintage feel.
