Recently been to the religious festival called Gadi Mai, where thousands of animals (mostly buffaloes, hens, pigeons and goats ) are sacrified in the name of goddess Gadi mai, the goddess of power. The festival happens once in every five years in Bara, Sarlahi region. People from India and a part of Nepal (Terai) gather here for this festival. This time I got to witness it.
The constant walking with thousands of chaotic crowds that looked like all going and all coming, Some were walking with fresh blood on their knives or khukuries, some with scissors to cut the bird's feathers ! Walking for 2 hours, I reached another crowded area surrounded by high walls. I asked a policeman to help me climb the wall. He did and I felt the wall was shaking a bit because there were so many people sitting and watching what I hadn't really expected. Thousands and thousands of headless buffaloes, some still breathing half ! Total Bizzare !!
Still feels so dreamy when I look at these pictures ! It gives me goosebumps !
