RECONSTRUCT is a website designed to assist the users with cutting down their plastic use and BPA exposure. BPA is a toxin found in plastics and plasticizers that mimics estrogen in the body of humans and other species and over time, can disrupt hormones in the body. Reconstruct is a concept where a user can easily research, upload and organize usable content related to living a plastic free lifestyle. This is a sharing platform for anything from sustainable DIY projects to tips on how to shop plastic free. The goal of this platform is to combat plastic waste, promote sustainability and to find creative solutions to these issues. I wanted to create awareness of a problem that flies under the radar and directly effects our health over time. I believe the hardest part about communicating this issue is that it is invisible and difficult to measure. Unlike other public health concerns such as smoking or alcoholism, contact with plasticizers and BPA goes undetected.
