Paul Roberts's profile

Filedier. The traffic jam animal. (AUTOMOBILIS RIGIDIS)

I really enjoy creating images that are not real but need to look real.
No CGI here. The head was created conform the real size of a Gnu’s head and photographed in the studio. My time was spent treating the various elements to create a unifying feeling throughout each image.

‘Better Usage’ programme by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment in the Rotterdam region. Created by the advertising agency BVH. The campaign aims to get people out of their personal cars and onto public transport.

The traffic-jam animal is a social mammal closely related to the homosapiens. In large numbers he populates the country plains on the edge city, generally in the early morning and late afternoon.

The traffic-jam animal is known for its herd behaviour. He follows the mob and will gladly be led by the behaviour of other traffic-jam animals. The traffic-jam animal is generally a judicious and rationally acting being. Two times per day he is  seized by an uncontrolled compulsion to step into the car. Generally this is to bridge the distance between the places where the traffic-jam animal lives and works. The most natural enemies of the traffic-jam animal are the bicycle and public transportations. The herd offers protection against  these enemies.
