The American Conservation Film Festival is an annual event held in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, a vibrant arts community 70 miles west of the nation’s capital. The ACFF features films from a diverse group of conservation filmmakers around the world. A key to the success of this project was to capture the essence of the festival and portray that through the promotional materials. The ACFF celebrates conservation film and video in the exciting, eclectic atmosphere of historic WV. The use of a unique and congruent color palate, sets the mood for the films. Beautiful imagery spliced together to create a story personal to each individual film, paired with big bold blocks of negative space forming the typeface remains signature throughout the poster series to ensure consistency. The design elements also are put into use with the event booklet, which showcases photo-manipulation, carefully placed photo crops and color overlays, experimental type, and tight grid systems. Vibrant and eclectic, this is no ordinary film festival, and these folks are no ordinary people. (Find beautiful resource photos from Unsplash and Superfamous Studios) Read Less
