As with all my works, drawing represents the initial phase of the process.  At this point, the composition has been established and I am now going back into the details and developing each individual object.
Once the drawing is complete, the background gets built up with a series of thin layers, bringing the objects to life.

Many of these objects are indeed, strangely familiar and rather organic in nature.

Each object is built up with a significant quantity of gold paint.  As the light changes throughout the day, so does the appearance of each painting and each individual object.  The gold catches the light in a remarkable way.
Here is an example of one object in two kinds of light.  This first shot is natural light..
In this next shot, the light directed at an angle picks up the embossed lead that was previously undetectable.  
This is the last phase of the process.  Here, the final details are being touched up.
