Coloratura was for an ID class in advanced Design Planning. The goal of the class was to create an application for the soon to be released "apple tablet" (this was several months before the iPad shipped) that would be a game-changer for some existing business.
I chose to focus on sheet music. Sheet music is relatively difficult to find and hard to use. I researched the vocal music market and found that music is huge. By appealing to people's love of singing, their desire to get better and the benefits of combining sheet music with mobile and social technologies, I could create an app that could do for sheet music what iTunes did for recorded music.
Coloratura's business model relies not only on the sale of sheet music, but on smart advertising, recorded music sale commissions and a subscription service for vocal ensembles like choirs. Take a look at the slides to see more.
