The street-art movement generates a lot of interest on me. I interpret it as being able to offer the viewer what is not involved in the art world of Guanajuato: a view of what art is for me and be able to appreciate it as I do. Since the 20th century, although it emerged from movements such as DADA: an anti-elitist movement was generated: conceptual art. From my personal perspective, conceptual art is the kind of art that needs to be studied under general knowledge about art, like aesthetic, philosophy and history to be more understandable because this kind of art requires giving a larger explanation of its existence and purpose. On the other hand, graffiti, murals, stickers and the different art expressions embodied in the streets serve to remove the barrier between the bourgeois elite art of the galleries.
This kind of art that can be digested and understood for all. In the city of Guanajuato it can hardly be seen murals that do not commemorate Mexican history or related with religion. This fact stimulated my love to do something different in the city to show the public something artistically produced. In my short experience I have identified different painting techniques, which some of them I have used to put it in the “Bailame como si fuera un marranito” sticker. In this case, I decided to work in big format, (2 X 1 meters) to catch the attention of the viewers.
In this piece the most important for me and Luis Yeah, was the idea of showing the art in the streets of Guanajuato, because we can see little or nothing of urban art in this city. We also had the excitement of the unauthorized expression: is amazing when you are painting and pasting your art on the walls. We were aware of the danger but the adrenaline fed us.
