Ottoman Garden Book  For the Missouri Botanical Garden
A 60 page soft-cover book, designed for the Bakewell Ottoman Garden in the Missouri Botanical Garden. Contains an historical overview of Ottoman Gardens and many historical drawings as well as photographs of the garden throughout the year.

An excerpt by Philippa Scott from the Introduction:
"The Bakewell Ottoman Garden is located in the northeast corner of the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis, Missouri. Opened in 2006 and formally dedicated on May 16, 2008, it is not just the first garden of its kind in the United States, but is the only known public Ottoman garden in the world. Together with the Japanese and Chinese gardens already established, the Ottoman Garden allows the Missouri Botanical Garden to present Near Eastern, Far Eastern, and Western garden traditions simultaneously as never before in a beautiful and significant presentation to the general public. The designers hope that this fascinating garden will help to develop an understanding of Ottoman history. Visitors previously unaware of the extensive Ottoman contribution to the history of gardening and botanical studies will be surprised, and it is hoped that this previously neglected aspect of garden history will inspire and stimulate others, thus helping to resurrect a distinct and individual gardening tradition in its own right. The imperial city of Constantinople, now renamed Istanbul, lies on an equivalent latitude to St. Louis, and although their continental situations and climate differ in some respects, many of the same plants will flourish in the gardens of each city."
