Making a new space for creativity in the academy, this exercise took the format of a four day workshop with twenty-one postgraduate students (from across the design school) at the Estonian Academy of Arts, Tallinn, Estonia. Sections of this course were subsequently delivered to 2nd year Education students and 1st year Visual Communication students at NCAD, to MA Interior Design students at the RCA and MArch students at UCD. Students produced a set of creative outcomes - flyers, posters and films - as well as textual and contextual material, which develop a narrative about their identity as designers, their ambitions in design and a greater understanding of what they can do to positively change the design story (and the world around them). This workshop is part of a series which intends to provide students with prompts to create stories of change: to explore the future potential of what can happen in design and with design. The workshop series is not about creating a final design product, but creating the thinking, the conceptual and contextual framework that could elicit design outcomes. Read Less
