Woodlands derives its name , possibly from the rubber trees that once dominated the landscape in the past. Its name is also reminiscent of a rural outpost in urban singapore. Today, however, woodlands is one of the most densely popluated housing and industrial estates in singapore.

Inspired by the urban location of Singapore "Woodlands"; also a place where I live currently. The scientific name of the rubber tree itself and decided to name the typeface “Hevea”. The rubber tree; also known as Hevea Brasiliensis in old latin was just the name that fueled my inspiration and sparked my creativity. Hevea basically meant wood in olden times, the very staple resource that gave people tools to work with, the homes and huts that sheltered millions from the elements and the ships that carried people over oceans across the world to uncharted and undiscovered distant lands.

It was revered as the bearer of life for the rich and poor. Hence, it was the perfect name that would fit a typeface that was inspired by the rubber tree itself. A name not as bold as “Impact” and not as common and utilized as “Arial” but a perfect blend of both.
