 A Digital Strategy & Social Media Case Study
Barrio 305 is a multiplatform media property targeting the U.S. based Latino youth segment. Barrio 305 aims to be the destination of choice for the fastest growing segment of the U.S. population by offering original programming via broadband video as well as a platform for user generated content through it's own video chat community & social network.  The original programming consists of all access coverage on the following: the Latino music scene, car shows, street fashion, urban art and latina swimsuit models. The user generated content consists of a social network where users customize their own profiles with a suite of tools made available on Barrio 305 i.e. Slide show generators, video uploads, photosharing and more.
THE VIDEO CHAT COMMUNITY
The most powerful and engaging aspect of the Barrio305 project was the video chat platform, powered by Userplane, which transmitted over 10K web-cam video and audio streams a day. Moderated by a volunteer group of active community members, the chat room came to be known as the one of the top destinations online for the latino youth demographic.

SOCIAL NETWORK PLATFORM
The Barrio 305  social network is powered by user-generated content that actively engages its members. The site  targets Latinos who feel a strong connection to their Latin roots and identify themselves with both American and Latin culture. Barrio305 uses the RawConnect platform, an open source project developed by the founders.

VIRAL MEDIA STRATEGY
Barrio305 used the power of the community to not only generate content but also to market the site across other social networks through the use of custom viral Barrio305 graphics. At it's peak, this strategy delivered over 100GB graphics serving as impressions on a daily basis to competing social networks.
ON DECK WITH SPRINT POWERVISION & MOBITV
In 2006 Barrio305 was invited to participate as one of 20 exclusive channels on the MobiTV en Español network which powering AllTel, Cingular and the Sprint Powervision Network. Barrio305 was asked to participate because of the original programming we produced targeting the latino youth segment. Other channels in the launch included Discover en Español, ESPN Deportes and the History Channel.

BROADBAND VIDEO DESTINATION
Barrio 305’s diverse and exciting original programming covers all the key subjects in the youth oriented Urban Latino scene. The programming provides the ideal platform for advertisers to reach the highly desired young Latino demographic.
