Toying with Technology

Toying with Technology | 2012,  was a five-day foundational workshop aimed at enabling participants (district and town level employees of the Azim Premji Foundation) understand and use technology more meaningfully. Every employee is handed a laptop and internet-card when they join but have no idea about how the laptop and internet can aid them in their work and life. The participants look at the computer as a 'mysterious object' instead of 'a useful device', that one that they can tame and use effectively. The course was aimed at making the
participants:
(a) Think about the different perspectives on the role of technology in education;
(b) Tinker with common tools available such as office productivity tools, internet
based technologies and educational applications using low cost mobiles; and
(c) Take forward the learning from this course by developing a plan to apply
them in their work.
The course flier that I designed. It was sent out to the participants before they came to attend the workshop
Participants busy making their hand-made books that they were going to use as journals. We began the course with a
basic 'technology' that most people still cannot function without- a book. I curated this session.
A three member team that was part of, was responsible for organizing this workshop. I facilitated 2 sessions - (book-making and mentoring a group of 3 members while they were exploring a set of new digital tools).
Mentoring some of the participants on how to use digital tools for blogging
Led by Radha Ganesan, in collaboration with Rajesh Utsahi, Rajkishore Patnaik and Juny.K.Wilfred
