These sketches are representative of my overall style and the way in which I begin to conceptualise a character or story. The characters posted here are fully fleshed out concepts - They have lives, backstories, motivations and places within their . The current series is generally fantasy focussed, but as this project is retroactive (I have probably about 30 or 40 artbooks full of concept sketches) the characters will cover just about every genre possible. I generally approach my work from the ground up, beginning with numerous fast sketches and ad-hoc details, in order to come up with ideas on the fly or work out the logistics of certain things I want to include. These will lead into a more detailed, general sketch, which I scan, vector through illustrator then color and shade with photoshop.
