The idea behind this project was to explore different materials and create surfaces that could be converted to woven jacquard fabrics by taking inspiration from a maker or an artist. I found inspiration in Kirsten Hassenfeld's paper sculptures. The sheer delicacy and the details, play of light and shadow and the beautiful use of colour, or the complete lack of it was what inspired me.
The first few explorations were literal, some of them being three-dimensional. Most of them were made using using gateway sheets and handmade paper.
This was followed by abstraction and working with two dimensional surfaces using materials like yarn, organdy, cane and gateway sheets.
