Parasite Housing - Modernist Intervention
A housing project relooking at modernist architecture. The design challenges the notion of the 'object in space' as an organic parasite that negotiates between landscape and building. The parasite is realised through lightweight construction that infects a unit and climbs the facade, creating a shading green planting screen over the curtain wall, and creating garden and planting space where residents might become producers of food. The communal units are flexible and adaptable internally, allowing for the units to switch between the programmes of production and dwelling.
