I’m the board of directors Vice-President of this 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The association’s previous logo was difficult to read, awkward to place on merchandise and simply needed a big overhaul in order to effectively communicate.
The New Mexico Rails-to-Trails Association coordinates and performs – through the recruitment of volunteers – maintenance, improvements and sometimes creation of local hiking and biking trails. Primarily these trails follow the rail beds of the steam engine tracks that criss-cross around and up the local mountains between 65 and 120 years ago.
The new logo and identity reflects the history of the local railroad as well as the organization itself and is designed to provide a more commercially attractive identity in order for the association to be able to raise more money through sales of branded merchandise. The current first stage of release will be through a website redesign and ordering and starting local sales of branded T-shirts, water bottles and baseball caps.
