Blogblogs is a web application built to collect, organize and share your favorite content in a smart and elegant way.

In this project I had the opportunity to direct and execute all the design work (IA, IxD, UX/UI, Prototyping and Visual Design) towards a better user experience.

CONCEPT

The main idea is came from the RSS feed apps just after Google Reader's death and the lack of a better alternative. Some traits were strongly inspired in Pinterest by project owner's requisition, like the lazy load and the panel organization as well as several and other great designed apps we came up in the brainstorm.

INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE (IA)

The flow inside the app was changed several times for better affordance. As designers sometimes everything seems very logical or intuitive until you run series of tests with users. The experience acquired over the years allowed us to quickly change problematic issues, inviting users from inside and outside company to participate in the process. The result is an app much better than we planned from the start.

Even after starting the visual design stage is possible to notice some changes in the flow. You can check bellow some of the screens.

INTERACTION DESIGN (IxD) AND VISUAL DESIGN

Interaction design in this app was a real challenge. Since we were going to port the app from web to Android and iOS, every aspect, from icons to animations, needed special attention.

The front-end developers (Christian Nascimento, Gabriel Mendes and Robson Batista) worked very hard to put up everything we discussed in meetings. It's important to have devs that you can count on, and they did a great job.

At the end of the project we were able to polish some features, like the illustrations for 404 and 500 error pages.

TECHSTACK

For design work we used Balsamiq (Wireframing), Photoshop and Illustrator (High fidelity mockups, prototyping and icon design), Sublime Text (HTML/CSS).

Devs worked on Blogblogs as an Angular.js app, using Bower as package manager, Grunt as Javascript task runner and SASS as CSS preprocessor. The backend was running in Python.
