New Carrollton Library Renovation

GWWO is currently working with Prince George’s County Memorial Library System on the design for an interior renovation and entrance addition for the 60,000-SF New Carrollton Library Branch that will create an aesthetically inviting and functional contemporary library. Responding to the influence of technology and the transition of the traditional library typology, the renovation will allow the facility to accommodate the demands of the twenty-first century and beyond through the inclusion of modern programming elements such as a thematic children’s area, individual study spaces, and state of the art meeting and computer training facilities.  The internal transformation of the building is heralded by the building’s new entry.  A dynamic entrance prism transforms the building from a static, two-dimensional exploration in plan to a three-dimensional space that acts as a beacon to the community, providing an inviting place for the public to gather and learn.
