All I ever really want to know is how other people are making it through life—where do they put their body, hour by hour, and how do they cope inside of it.

Detach reflects upon the neither here nor there experience between adolescence and adulthood. In past generations this time was short lived or non-existent as people entered into marriages, the work force and the wider world earlier.

Through interview, photography and typography I created a series of four quarterly journals that engage, reflect and question the experiences and decision making processes of young people on the brink of adulthood, as they leave the families they were born into and head towards the ones they will create for themselves. This project aims to provide a flicker of community to this disconnected body of individuals.
