Object Transform Poster Series
This series of posters was created for an imaginary type conference at the Walker Art Center called “Object Transform.” These posters are inspired by the work of Luna Maurer, who designs “fungus” projects using logic-based design. For each project, Maurer designs a set of simple shapes, a set of simple rules, and picks a location. The shapes are printed on sticker paper in large quantities, along with the set of rules, and are then handed to people that participate in the project. Maurer invites the public to participate in her projects, and wants to inspire everyone to be creative.
For my series of posters, I created my own fungus project by designing shapes and writing a set of rules. Friends, family, teammates, classmates, and professors applied these shapes directly to my posters according to my set of rules. Half of the text was printed on the posters before the stickers were applied, and the other half was applied after the fungus project was complete.
