Week #36 / 52 – Web P&A All Hands Title Slide

What is this project about?
This week's project is the title slide for the presentation at the all hands meeting to the Web Platform and Authoring (Web P&A) team at Adobe later this month.

At All-Hands meeting, we typically talk about how things fit together and I thought of using Antonio Rodriguez Jr's Modular Font (for the blocky type). I also used his Uberlin fot for the "ALL HANDS" text.

The final result is at the end of this page, a high resolution rendering that can be used for the presentation and as a desktop background.
3D Typography, VRay and Multi-Pass Compositing
This week, I used VRay for Cinema 4D for the first time, and it has been quite challenging to get a first rendering done. I was trying to get the type of 2D look and use the beautiful lighting that VRay can generate. The lighting set up is made of 4 lights, 3 area lights (with no shadows) and a directional light to give a the harder lighting and shadows.

To generate the blocks, I extruded the Modular font and then seperated each of the blocks so as to be able to have them behave as independent objects. I duplicated the text elements and gave them dynamics as shown in the video below.

I also learned to use multi-pass compositing to be able to tweak ambient occlusions in Photoshop. Here is what the ambient occlusions pass looks like.
Below are the full resolution renderings, in desktop format (2560x1440) and mobile format.
