This past summer, I began experimenting with colored pencils on colored paper; a technique used in one of my favorite college pieces. This time, I bought a large sheet of emerald green paper and began a sort of tribute to Neil Adams, using his "Hard Traveling Heroes", Green Lantern and Green Arrow. Below is the first half of the piece, Green Lantern. Green Arrow coming soon.
I tired to keep Mr. Adam's unique styling in mind when working on the pencils.
I wanted the character to sort of sink into the background a bit. To do so, all the areas that I would have normally shaded black (like I did in the pencils) use the natural green of the paper instead.
