This project came into creation as a response to the ongoing issue of immigrants in the United States and its based on a Highway safety sign posted on States near the US-Mexico border. The sign was created to warn drivers of immigrants crossing the highway on their way to mexico to the US and since then it has become an icon that signals immigration and all the political issues surrounding it.
The sign depicts a family running to cross the border in their pursuit of a better life or the so called "american dream"
My intention was to take this symbol out of context and place it in familiar circumstances, where it would not normally be seen and by doing so try to give it a complete different meaning. By not adding anything or altering the silhouette the message is completely dependent on the viewers preconception about the issue which i thought would be interesting.
