"Painting the Green Man" The owner of an organic tea shop loved the work I did for him years ago but wanted something fresh and more obviously hand done. We really wanted to express an atmosphere of organic, wild & natural whilst still maintaining a warm welcoming environment. We share a love of the Green Man, an ancient and prolific icon. The Green Man is a powerful Anthropomorphism of the spirit of Nature' s growth and wildness as well as its protector. I took this spirit to heart as I developed this work, tuning into my inner beast. For the concept work I used both hands and discovered that I am ambidextrous, the right & left sides of the images bearing hints of this. I used various natural teas for art materials in wet & dry media, combing various organic teas with other natural elements such as beeswax and filtered water to create crayons, inks, washes and sprays. There were several discoveries, I was a bit of a mad scientist. Throughout this project all the plant life in my studio went nuts, and I now cultivate a veritable indoor garden. The real trick with window art is documentation, if you can't get a shot with direct bright sunlight with no bright background objects the resulting images are fraught with reflection. After research & more experimentation I developed a black non reflective screen with a hole from which to take my pictures. This worked very well but clarified my need for a larger screen. I will be working with this image as long as I breathe so I'll be sure to share more green in the future. If you enjoy please "like" and share, I'm curious to see if the growth of this post will also sprout organically onward... Read Less
