SC State Library
statelibrary.sc.gov
The SC State Library is a state government agency with programs and services designed to support South Carolina libraries, South Carolina government employees, and residents of South Carolina with physical disabilities.
In order to accomodate these diverse markets, I developed a content strategy that presents all of the agency's services using strong imagery and brief textual summaries. The service summaries are designed to be understandable by all residents of South Carolina, regardless of their constituant markets.
At that point, users are directed to our customized instance of Springshare's LibGuides product, which is a proprietary content management system designed specifically for libraries and which contains the specific content for each of the distinct markets.
I made the decision to spin SC Talking Book Services into its own, standalone website, which will better meet the needs of South Carolina residents with disabilities.
I used Drupal 7 to manage the top-level content, creating custom content types and views for the SC State Library news section, the SC Library jobs board, and various webforms throughout the site. I developed a responsive custom Drupal theme incorporating layout and functional elements of the Twitter Bootstrap UI framework. I used the command line LESS compiler running on my development server and using the Autoless extension to monitor .less files for changes.
