'Taketakerau - The Millennium Tree'

Taketakerau
The Millennium Tree
This book tells the story of an ancient Puriri tree near Opotiki, New Zealand, and in doing so it recounts the last 2000 years of NZ history, set alongside major world events.

The author approached me mid 2010 to illustrate the book on the strength of my work displayed on the Internet.  She specifically stated she did not want a standard illustration style, or anything 'cartoon-like', as she called it.  The result is 36 full-page, wall-to-wall paintings that tell the story of the life of the tree and major events in New Zealand history in the past 2000 years.

See below for a teaser image and a spread photo of the printed book.
