Gropius - Superman
(The Archi-Tektor)

January-March 2009. Eighth trimester
Course: Theory and history of architecture 4
Research work

In this course, research works had the theme of modern architecture and its relation with migration in the XXth century.

My team chose the life and work of Walter Gropius. In our investigation we analyzed three of his works dedicated to education: Bauhaus building in Dessau, Harvard Graduate Center in Boston and Bagdad University in Bagdad.

That analysis is attached to a contextualization of the architect in Germany and later in the United States of America, this situates each building within the worldwide situation and Gropius life and career.

Finally, we did a video presentation as a synthesis of our research. This video shows our critical vision of Gropius after considering the role of history in this architect’s work.
