Mural for Club Lite, Amsterdam 'World of Wonders'

The World of Wonders
Created by Atelier Aandacht with the help of many
This colourful mural kind of explodes from the three walls of Club Lite's lounge, Amsterdam. However wondrous tales it tells about divine flowers and exotic gods and godesses, the most wonderful of it all is  that it was painted with the help of many volunteering hands - some of them quite unexperienced. Volunteers loved their time of working with Atelier Aandacht at the then still future Chai Shop. Some of them returned to offer their help no less than thrice during the 7 days of creation!
Having lunch within a black-and-white landscape, on day one. We're the first to lounge in this place.
Day two: the day of many colours. There is a job for everyone during these tranquile, focused and meditative days.
Me painting the last details on Saraswati: Goddess of creative flow.
Lord Ganesha, gatekeeper and protector of each new beginning. Strategically positioned next to the door to the lounge of this new club.
World of Wonders. To the right: Saraswati, floating trough the Universe on her gracious swan. Next to the entrance on the left: Lord Ganesha, the lounging gatekeeper.
Shakti (Form, Energy) and Shiva (Awareness) in Yab Yum: All in universe is created from the emerging of these two principles.
A tableau of water lilies, after an old Japanese woodblock print. One day the Buddha silently held up a flower before the assembled throng of his disciples, only that. This 'Flower Sermon' became famous.
One of the walls of 'World of Wonders'. Shakti and Shiva on the left, right: the Japanese Waterlillies.
One of the little clouds: Tibet revisited:-)
I believe that followers of a spiritual path (and particularly the path of Tantra) have access to an understanding of reality and the depth of existence that most non-spiritual people don't. As we practice and meditate, our essential qualities start to shine trough more and more. We become more colourful and gain freedom to think for ourselves.

Blessed as we are, I feel we have the obligation to spread our experience and knowledge troughout the world. We can make her healthy, beautiful and peacefull again. Sadly, most of us experience a huge gap between the retreats, yoga classes and workshops we do - and the daily world we live in. At our jobs, in the supermarket and together with our neighbours, we don't find the intimacy, peace and open-mindedness we so desperately long for.

It is my mission to turn your world into a temple.

When your home is a place of beauty and awareness; your soul can truly rest. As you are constantly reminded of what's important for you, you will have more energy and power to spread your lovely virus into your neighbourhood, into your city, into your country.

I was born with a paintbrush in my hands. During my whole childhood I created artwork after artwork, but that suddenly stopped as I entered the university after finishing Art Academy: a tragedy of lost passion that most of us experience in one way or another. In the Tantra Training at the Centrum voor Tantra, Amsterdam, I got back in touch with my divine qualities.

I was astonished by the power and intelligence of the Tantric deities and myths, reveiling so much about the human psyche. Becoming an artist once again, I specialized in the creating of home altars and spaces for meditation - helping you to bridge the gap and bring beauty and meaning into daily life.
