New Pilot Parallel Pens!
In March of 2013, Abigail went to RISD to compete in the Rhode Island state final of the “Poetry Out Loud” competition. While there, I met up with Mary with whom I used to get together for home-schooling activities about 10 years prior. During the course of our conversation, her husband, Neville shared news about a “Pen Show” he had attended in NYC. I had no idea that there were such events, but it piqued my interest. When I told him I was a calligrapher, he showed me a pen he was working on and then gave me a set of Pilot Parallel Pens. They had large nibs that wrote in colored inks, but the best feature was their ability to share ink colors to create blended colors. I have been enjoying writing with them ever since. I am so thankful to Neville for his generous gift. It has inspired me to write out the scriptures with gusto!
All Occasion Scripture Cards
This group of eight scripture verses were written in 1992. They were created to be printed on an offset press in a fountain roll in which each card would have a blend of colors with the calligraphy in white. They were also created to double as art prints which could be framed and matted or fridge magnets which each card could be inserted into a plastic sleeve with a magnetic back. They were featured in my first card sales catalog in 1993.
These are my first two Scripture Greeting Cards created in 1990.
Back in the day, I would cut with scissors and paste with a glue-stick. White-out was another great editing tool.
