Some of my published work

Being a freelance photographer I am always on the lookout.
My work has been published in magazines, newspapers and is also on display at other businesses.

Specialized photography for New Zealand Geographic Magazine. Most of these projects had many challenges.
Ants found in New Zealand feature. Over 17 images published in the issue.
Many different ant species were photographed at close as 10x optical magnification. This assignment definitely had optical, geographical and size challanges. The smallest ant photographed  had 1.2 mm in lenght, as big as the tip of your ball pen. But, the biggest ant had 8 mm.
An other feature for New Zealand Geographic. Trout embryo development. over 12 images published. Live material supplied by Rotorua Trout Hatchery  New Zealand.
Rainbow trout was introduced into New Zealand. I followed the embryo's development since the first signs of life inside the egg. This extreme close-up photography had a medium and optical challange, the water and magnification.
Rainbow trout hatchlings.
This image also was published in the issue described above, and it had been a favourite image for many people.
Extreme close up image at 10x optical magnification of a monarch butterfly wing scales. Probably you have experineced that when you catch a butterfly, a powdery material sticks to your fingers. That powder is actually scales covering the wing like scales on the house roof.
An articele about the New Zealand sandfy.
If you have been in New Zealand during summer, than you probably met this little biting creture. This blood sucking fly appears from nowhere and it mesure between 3-4 mm.

Double page spread of trout eggs in the water in New Zealand Geographic magazine. Howewer it is astill image but I have to tell you the little alevin was already moving, swirling inside the egg.
Photo taken at Rotorua Trout Hatchery New Zealand, many thanks to Lloyd Gledhill Fish & Game New Zealand.
The local Mount Brewing Co. (Mount Maunganui) needed some promotional material for a fast approaching food show. So I came up with these ideas.
The largest image towards the left hand side corner was the most favourited. Basically, I wanted to follow the already designed logo. At the background is Mauao or Mount Maunganui and the surfer stands on the beach with the surfboard just as shown on the logo. The photo was taken at dawn. The beer bottle and glass in the studio what I lated blended into the environment.
Bay of Plenty Times, the local newspaper, relaunched as a tabloid-sized paper in March, 2013. It was completely revamped and was a significant milestone in the paper's history. They wanted to mark the launch with an iconic Bay image wrapped around the outside of the paper. The chosen image was this dawn photo looking down on the Mount Maunganui township.
The photo was taken from the top of Mount Maunganui (Mauao) an extinct volcano. It took me several climbs until I got the timing of the rising sun and city lights just right.
