Images created for Alex Torio's CD "Ghosts of Comala" artwork-booklet, based on the mexican writer Juan Rulfo's novel "Pedro Páramo".
Shot at Poble Vell de Corbera d'Ebre (Tarragona, Catalonia, Spain), November 2011.

The barren, desert, mysterious and disturbing spirit of Rulfo's words and music and the voice of Alex comes out in large landscapes, abandoned and lifeless as far encompasses vision, often displayed in widescreen formats connecting with references to the western soundtracks found on the album, in agressive blacks and whites product of the hard light of the wilderness, but also as a tribute to the unknown photographic gaze of Rulfo and his photographs of the real Comala, the mexican desert and its people, and in scratched and worn by time textures, time that takes the life away and fills the village of ghostly presences.

After Alex's work was published the photos became themselves an exhibition that has been displayed at "La Lotteria" (Sants, Barcelona, March 2013), SlowBar Barcelona (July 2013),  "Les Bernardes" Cultural Center (Salt, Girona, october 2013, and Centre Cívic Pati Llimona (Barcelona, September 2014) until today.

Consistent with this mix of photography, literature and music, each image at the exhibit is paired with one of the 16 tracks on the album and a printed CD containing  small selection of text (from Torio's lyrics and from Rulfo's book), along with a QR code that people can scan with their smartphome to listen to the song for each picture.
